Making family Memories Happen

If you’ve ever said, “We should book family photos,” but then blinked and suddenly it’s December (it's me, hi!), mini sessions might just be your new best friend.

Let’s be real: life is full. Between school drop-offs, soccer games, birthday parties, and trying to finish your coffee before it gets cold (again), finding time for a full family photo session can feel impossible. That’s where the magic of mini sessions comes in.

Here’s why they’re perfect for families like yours:

1. Shorter Commitment for Busy Schedules

Mini sessions are typically 10 to 20 minutes long—just enough time to capture some real, joyful moments without needing to block off half your day. They’re easy to fit in between errands or weekend plans, and there’s no need to stress about keeping little ones entertained for a full hour. It’s like a quick adventure with a beautiful takeaway! As someone who has kids in extra curricular activities and balances two jobs, I can absolutely squeeze in a mini session with my family easier than a regular session (even though I'd rather have the full experience), so I know you can, too!

2. Celebrate Seasonal and Special Moments

One of the sweetest parts of mini sessions? They often line up with seasonal changes and special holidays—Christmas, Mother’s Day, the first blossoms of spring, or the golden magic of fall. These sessions are a chance to pause and capture the moments that matter before they slip away.

This magic might dull a little as your family grows older, but capturing all those little memories when they're young is so important because of how quickly they grow! I have a family who did fall minis with me in October with their 6 month old and by the time we did another set in the spring, their baby was a whole different person! Don't underestimate how much you'll love having those photos to compare.

3. New Locations = Fresh Fun and Memories

Mini sessions are also an excuse to explore! Whether it’s visiting a cozy tree farm, splashing in a sunlit creek, or walking a trail you’ve never seen before, each mini session brings a little adventure. The best part? You’re making memories while capturing them. As a mom, I know we're all guilty of wanting to take all the photos of our family when we're out somewhere new. But think about how much better that experience is when you're not stressed about remembering to get your phone out; when you can enjoy the moment with your family (unheard of, I know) and still get the photos, but you're in them.

4. TRY OUT A PHOTOGRAPHER WITHOUT THE FULL INVESTMENT

If you’ve never had professional photos taken or just want to try out someone new (hi, nice to meet you!), mini sessions are a great low-pressure way to see if it’s a good fit. You’ll still get gorgeous images, but without the price tag or time investment of a full session. We're all struggling in one way or another with the economy - don't make the mistake of not getting family photos done at all just because you can't budget in that full session you want right now.

5. Perfect for Milestone Moments (Big or Small)

You don’t need a birthday or major life change to book photos. Maybe your toddler just lost their first tooth, or your baby’s curls are finally coming in. Maybe you’ve just come through a tough season and want to celebrate your resilience (yes, get it!). Mini sessions are a beautiful way to document the in-between moments that tell your family’s story.

Whether you’re new to the world of family photos or book multiple mini sessions throughout the year, these little bursts of connection, beauty, and joy are always worth it.
